6th International Conference on Business Management (ICOBM)

The striving demand for development of sustainable competitive advantage had pushed organizations to secure economic opportunities and establish entrepreneurial startups at the individual level. The repercussions toward employment generation and economic activity have substantially changed research perception and applied approach. In this context, NUST Business School (NBS) together with Dr Hasan Murad School of Management, University of Management and Technology, Lahore, Institute of Management Sciences Peshawar, Institute of Business Management, Karachi, and Institute of Business Administration, Sukkur, organized 6th International Conference on Business Management (ICOBM) on “Human Capital Technology and Entrepreneurship: Competitive Advantage and Economic Opportunities”. Higher Education Commission (HEC) and Association of Management Development Institutions in Pakistan (AMDIP) also partnered in this auspicious event.

The 6th ICOBM was held at National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST), Islamabad Campus on October 26-27, 2016. The event brought together number of researchers, practitioners and policy makers under one roof and successfully covered the critical emerging areas of entrepreneurship, technology, economics, management and human capital. The conference identified learning points raised from emerging issues in innovation and entrepreneurship that will be crucial to the market.

The official opening of this conference was honored by the Chief Guest; Prof. Dr. Ahsan Iqbal, Federal Minister for Planning, Development. Dr. Naukhez Sarwar (Dean NBS) welcomed the participants in his inaugural speech and stressed on academic, industrial and governmental collaboration for the benefit of management and business education. Dr. Asifa Obaid and Engr. Muhammad Asghar (Rector NUST) also made their encouraging speeches to motivate the presenters. The opening session was followed by 24 research papers presentations on a group of themes spread over 8 sessions that continued for 2 consecutive days of conference. Innovation Management in Pakistan, Emerging Issues in Finance, Entrepreneurship and Training, Human Resource Management, Innovation, Management, Technology and Commercialization were deeply explored from academic, institutional and market perspectives during different sessions. The on-going panel response and reflections from audience put forward the efforts of contributors. The event proficiently reported the critical concerns being raised in the applied practice and also provided a direction for entrepreneurs and business tycoons to respond rapidly, flexibly and effectively to these issues.

Dr. Shahid Amjad Chaudhry (Chairperson AMDIP) participated in the conference and chaired a session. During the course of event he met with other high profiled academicians and practitioners and discussed the future of business education in the region. The closing ceremony included distribution of souvenirs among organizing committee and participants.
