1st International Conference on Business, Economics & Education Management (ICBEM)

With the advent of 21st Century, considerable changes have taken place in world’s economic, environmental, social and technological dynamics that demands for individuals support in creating new markets, utilization of resources and assisting the government. This makes the system complex, and policies are then devised to meet up local, regional and global level related to development, competitiveness, and innovation. The 1st International Conference on Business Economics & Education Management (ICBEM) was hosted by IBA Sukkur on December 15-16, 2016 with an aim to study “Local, Regional and Global Perspectives” of Business, Economics and Management areas. Association of Management Development Institutions in Pakistan (AMDIP), Higher Education Commission (HEC) Pakistan and Lahore College for Women University (LCWU) shared partnership with IBA Sukkur to organize this scholarly event as platform to scholars, researchers, practitioner, and policy makers for learning the exploratory work of these fields and high lighting emergent issues and current opportunities.

The conference promoted scientific communication of female researchers and welcomed speakers from both national and international settings. Moreover, a number of PhD scholars and research students from 15 different business schools participated in this seminar. The activities attracted over 200 registered delegates, almost 10 national and 5 International speakers from UK, China, Algeria and USA that took part in presenting their views and pertinent work contributions to the knowledge economy. The seminar provided stage to 25 project cases among which 5 were awarded for their excellence while two-days 13 parallel sessions were conducted for presenting 110 research articles. The event was prestige by the enriched exchange of diverse ideas and intellectual thoughts by female presenters on Leadership Finance, Human Resource Management, Organizational Behavior, Economics, Education and Consumer Behavior. A panel of prominent Research and Market specialists comprehend the ongoing discussions of symposium and added it to improve provision of academic services. The productive and innovative debates also passionately promote the serving of people, especially rural areas of Pakistan.

The conference was honored by the key note speeches of Dr. Rita Laura D’Ecclesia (Sapienza University of Rome, Italy), Dr. Craig Watter (Executive Director, Rita center for Entrepreneurship OSU, Stillwater, USA), Dr. Tayyab Shabir (California State University), Prof. Michael L. Lahr (Associate Director, Rutgers Economic Advisory Service, USA), Dr. Javed Ashraf (VC, Quaid-e-Azam University, Islamabad), Dr. Usman Raja (Avenue St. Catharines, Canada), Dr. Imran Ali (King Abdulaziz University, Saudi Arabia), Dr. Zafar Hayat (State Bank of Pakistan), Dr Mahmood ul Quddus (State Bank of Pakistan) and Mr. Prem Sagar (University of Rom). Moreover, Dr. Nafisa Shah (MNA, National Assembly of Pakistan) praised the participating delegates for their prodigious efforts to share the knowledge and raising existing issues to the economy and business field. Mahtab Akbar Rashdi (MPA, Sindh Assembly) encouraged the organizers and contributing women for their inspiring and motivating academic activities that work as a catalyst for developing countries. Syed Murad Ali Shah (Chief Minister of Sindh), Prof. Ahsan Iqbal (Minister of Planning & Development) and Prof. Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed (Chairman, HEC) also admired the successful achievement of 1st International Women symposium on Business Economics and Management and wished Prof. Nisar Ahmed Siddique (Dean & Director, Sukkur IBA) for more significant efforts to the industry-academia.
