Asian Conclave on Doctoral Program (ACDOC)

The Asian Conclave on Doctoral Programs (ACDOC) was organized on Feb 6, 2017 at Serena Hotel, Islamabad by the joint efforts of Association of Management Development Institutions in South Asia (AMDISA), Association of Management Development Institutions in Pakistan (AMDIP) and University of Management and Technology (UMT) in collaboration with National Business Education Accreditation Council (NBEAC) and Higher Education Commission (HEC). The event was second milestone towards ‘Cultivating Inquiry and Knowledge for Sustainable Society’. The theme of this conclave was broadened to Asian context including issues of Doctoral Programs. ACDOC 2017 was recognized as an admirable platform for knowledge sharing in business Schools pertinent to higher education and doctoral programs. It attracted a good number of doctoral faculty members, supervisors, and directors of Business schools operating across Asia.

  

  

The colloquium was opened by commencing speech of Dr. Hasan Sohaib Murad (Chairperson NBEAC/ Rector UMT), followed by address of chief guest; Dr. Shahid Amjad Chaudhary (Chairperson AMDIP/ Rector Lahore School of Economics). Ms. Nadia Tahir delivered a key note speech on doctoral program of Pakistan. The conclave comprised of national and international participants who actively participated in different discussions during the session. The event covered various themes including: Enhancing Quality through Institutional collaborations and alliances, developing critical thinking among research scholars, Managing quality, funding and resourcing mobilization of Doctoral programs. Debates and critical analysis were made on Eligibility Criteria for Induction in Doctoral Programs, Doctoral Coursework Design and Delivery, Doctoral Supervisor-Supervisee Relationship and Relevance of Doctoral Research. All the dialogues were set around improvement of higher education culture in South Asian region and channeling the strategy of improvement in doctoral studies.

  

  

  

The closing ceremony was graced by Prof. Lakshman R. Watawala (President AMDISA) who thanked all participants, especially Dr. Hasan Murad, Dr. Shahid Amjad Chaudhary and Ms. Memoona Zareen for organizing such an auspicious academic event. He was highly moved by the efforts of organizers to make this event remarkable to the knowledge economy. After distribution of souvenirs among organizers, Dr. Hasan Murad announced that AMDIP will be organizing partner along with AMDISA in next ACDOC to be held in Colombo, Sri Lanka in 2018.
